Ted Drewes Is Open!

May 6, 2005 25th Ward Comments Off on Ted Drewes Is Open!

Driving home tonight I noticed that Ted Drewes is open. Yeah!

I try not to go too often but boy is it hard to resist. Before I moved to Dutchtown I lived only a couple of blocks from Crown Candy Kitchen. Coincidence or destiny?

Public Hearing on Day Care Center on Virginia

May 2, 2005 25th Ward 1 Comment

More on the day care center that I posted about on March 16th:

PUBLIC NOTICE-A public hearing will be held by the Board of Adjustment at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 4, 2005, in Room 208 City Hall to consider the following:

APPEAL #8441-Appeal filed by Montrice Lewis, from the determination of the Board of Public Service in the denial of an occupancy permit authorizing the Appellant to operate a day care center for 20 children at 4657 Virginia. Ward 25 #AO328491-05 Zone: “F” Neighborhood Commercial District.

The prior post linked above has a “before” picture. Below is the current state of the building:

Yesterday the Knights of Columbus building located at 3133 Meramec was listed for sale at $275K. The MLS# is 518045 and is listed with the South County office of Coldwell Banker Gundaker.

I’m not sure if they are moving or closing. If you know, please use the comments below to pass along the information.

I’d like to see a new owner open up the storefront that was closed with concrete blocks.

Mt. Pleasant Neighborhood Association & Mayor Slay

April 1, 2005 25th Ward 1 Comment

Last week was the monthly meeting of the Mt. Pleasant Neighborhood Association but it was anything but ordinary. Mayor Slay was the guest speaker before a full house. The meeting had to take place in the Chapel of the Charless Home rather than our usual meeting space downstairs.

Now that the primary is over Slay is sounding less like a candidate and more like a second term mayor. His civic boosterism is exactly what is needed at this time.
