French & Patterson on Public Radio Program: ‘Open Source with Christopher Lydon’
Yesterday the national radio program, Open Source with Christopher Lydon, focused on the Missouri Senate race. My friend and fellow blogger Antonio French of PubDef was among the guests during the hour-long program.

Steve, you make some good points about how difficult it is to break into this one-party city but using your aldermanic race as an example was probably not a good idea. You were actually a candidate who could have fairly easily broken through in the 25th ward. There were people in the system who would have helped you (without you playing any games and just because they believed in who you were and what you were capable of) had you started earlier and had you gone to more community meetings starting a year earlier. This would have given your name a face and a proven interest in the community other than just running for office. Now, before you jump on me, I know your interest in this ward was NOT about running for office but because you love it, live in it and believe in it. But, your potential constituency had no way of really knowing that without you being involved over the past year. This is all part of running a good campaign. Now, perhaps someday I will have the same courage as you showed. When you ran, you set a great example for some of us weenies 😉
